WHAT IS A GUMMY SMILE?

Excess show of gums particularly on smiling can be embarrassing for some people and may affect their self-confidence.

Neuromodulators (anti-wrinkle injections) can be used to relax the muscles that cause 'gummy smile', resulting in less show of the gums and a more 'aesthetic' smile.

Other ways to treat a gummy smile is surgical removal of gum tissue from the mouth by visiting a Dentist but in many cases the gum will grow back resulting in a gummy smile once again.

COMPLIMENTARY TREATMENTS

Complimentary treatments to gummy smile corrections include 'lip flip' injections and/or lip filler. Most patients with gummy smiles have a high lip tone/ hyperactive lip muscle that actually causes the lips to look thinner than they are.

Neuromodulators can relax the lip muscle, preventing the upperwards curl that causes the lips to shrink when smiling. This causes the lips to relax and look more fuller and poutier.

HOW LONG DOES THE TREATMENT LAST?

The response to the injections is not immediate, and it will usually take several days for the muscles to respond, with efficacy peaking at around 2 weeks. The effects last approximately 3-4 months, depending on the area being treated and how many times you have had it previously.

As muscle action slowly returns after this time Botox® injections need to be repeated to maintain results.

Continued use of Botox® leaves the muscles in a continuously relaxed phase. This can also mean less Botox® is needed to achieve the same results over time and longer intervals between treatment sessions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH DOES TREATMENT COST?
The price of treatment will vary depending on what treatment is being carried out and the quantity of product being used. Please see prices . Please note it’s important to be individually assessed for an exact treatment quote, as product quantity will vary from person to person. All treatments should be paid for in full prior to starting the treatment. This is the policy of Clinic Four Limited.
I'M SCARED OF PAIN. WHAT PAIN MANAGEMENT OPTIONS DO YOU OFFER?
Anesthesia is a way to numb the area being injected so that you don't have any pain during the treatment. We provide 2 types of anesthetic solutions.

1. Topical anaesthetic: Topical creams like EMLA can be applied to the face and will provide a little anaesthesia. However, it needs to be left on for at least 30 minutes prior to the procedure.
2. Local anesthetic: For a more profound anaesthetic effect, a local anaesthetic, like that undertaken at the dentist, can be administered.
HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT? AND WHEN CAN I BOOK?
Please send an enquiry via the contact us page and a member of our team will promptly be in touch to assist you in scheduling an appointment. Appointments can be made at your convenience either online or face-to-face.
HOW LONG DO ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS LAST?
Weakening of the injected muscles begins to be apparent after 2-3 days with the peak effect being reached after 10-14 days. Results can last 3-6 months. The procedure can be repeated after 3 months; however, injections given less than 3 month intervals may reduce the efficacy of the injections.

The duration of effect varies greatly from person to person. It is dependent on many factors such as dosage used, how often you come back for maintenance tops ups as well as physiological and environmental factors. For example if you exercise a lot or use saunas/steam rooms, this may break down the effects of the injections faster than someone that doesn't do the above.
