COMPLICATIONS

Complications can arise regardless of practitioner experience, but thankfully, they are less likely if undertaken by a practitioner with a medical background.

There has been a rise of non-medical persons performing beauty treatments as the industry is not currently regulated and so its important as a consumer to do your homework and be treated by someone who is both medically trained and insured .

HOW CAN FILLER BE CORRECTED/REMOVED?

Medicines are available that dissolve (hyaluronic acid based) dermal filler. These prescription-only medicines can also be used in lower doses to correct undesirable results from fillers e.g asymmetry.

The potential side effects of using these medicines can be significant. Therefore its important you're injected by a practitioner with medical knowledge about the product as well as facial anatomy.

If you are considering correction or removal of filler its very important to know what product was originally injected, how much was used and dates it was placed. This type of treatment history should be readily available from your previous practitioner. Once filler has been removed, should you wish to have it replaced with new filler, typically we advise to wait between two and four weeks after dissolving.

REASONS YOU MAY WANT TO DISSOLVE FILLER:

  • You are no longer happy with the results (poor aesthetic outcome)
  • overfilled lips (most common)
  • allergic reaction to product (nodule formation or swelling)
  • migration of filler
  • Tyndell effect (bluish hue to the skin due to improper placement)
  • Medical emergencies (vascular occlusions)

DID YOU KNOW:

A small percentage of people are allergic to dermal filler dissolving medicines. Its therefore mandatory to have a patch test prior to injection of this medicine. If you have an allergy to bee and was stings, you're more likely to be allergic to this medicine.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH DOES TREATMENT COST?
The price of treatment will vary depending on what treatment is being carried out and the quantity of product being used. Please see prices . Please note it’s important to be individually assessed for an exact treatment quote, as product quantity will vary from person to person. All treatments should be paid for in full prior to starting the treatment. This is the policy of Clinic Four Limited.
I'M SCARED OF PAIN. WHAT PAIN MANAGEMENT OPTIONS DO YOU OFFER?
Anesthesia is a way to numb the area being injected so that you don't have any pain during the treatment. We provide 2 types of anesthetic solutions.

1. Topical anaesthetic: Topical creams like EMLA can be applied to the face and will provide a little anaesthesia. However, it needs to be left on for at least 30 minutes prior to the procedure.
2. Local anesthetic: For a more profound anaesthetic effect, a local anaesthetic, like that undertaken at the dentist, can be administered.

WHAT PRODUCTS ARE USED AND IS THERE A DIFFERENCE?
There are hundreds of products on the market these days. Each range has specific indications and their own unique properties. Whats most important is the safety and how well it breaks down in the case of an emergency/complication. Other factors we look at when purchasing products is how much long term scientific data is available about the product, how long it lasts for and is it CE certified and FDA approved.

Using a safe and well tested product often means the cost price of the product and hence the treatment may be more expensive than other less safe or unstable fillers available on the market. Revolax is an example of a cheaper more generic product, lots of practitioners use to offer cheaper treatments. At Clinic Four we use more premium products such as Aliaxin, Teosyl and MaiLi. There is little difference between premium quality products. The results however are almost entirely based on the skill of the practitioner performing the treatment.
