WHAT ARE NEUROMODULATORS?

Neuromodulators are wrinkle relaxing injections of botulinum toxin commercially known as Botox, Dysport, Xeomin or Azzalure, that are used to treat wrinkles. The botulinum toxin injections are used to create a fresher and more youthful appearance by causing a temporary relaxing of the treated facial muscles

Neuromodulators can be used for:

  • The forehead (frown lines)- the most common treatment
  • Nose slimming (by relaxing nostril movement)
  • Vertical or horizontal lines in between the eyes (brow furrows or glabellar)
  • The  eyes (crow’s feet or laughter lines)
  • Peri oral lines (smokers lines or fine wrinkles around the mouth)
  • The  nose (“bunny line” wrinkles seen on the top of the nose when smiling or laughing)

  • In the chin to correct “chin-ullite” bumpy chin, also known as chin dimpling

How is the treatment carried out?

An initial consultation is carried out to discuss what type of a result you are looking to achieve and how many sessions of treatment may be needed to achieve this. On the day of treatment, a topical numbing gel may be used depending on the clients preference. A bespoke treatment of Botox® is then administered. Its important to remember each client is unique in their own way and every client has their own expectations. That is why each treatment is tailor made to the clients wishes.

Small micro droplets of the neuromodulator is injected directly into the underlying muscle, causing it to relax and gradually smooth out the appearance of the overlying skin. Botox® softens wrinkles whilst maintaining a degree of movement in the face. It does not give a “frozen look”. The procedure is safe, not painful and takes minutes to perform.

What can I expect after having treatment?

Regardless of what part of the body you’re having treated, there is virtually no recovery time. Anti-wrinkle injections leave the skin looking smoother and more youthful by eliminating fine lines and wrinkles. Injections can also decrease oil production which may even help clear up pimples and reduce pore size.

How long does it last?

The response to the injections is not immediate, and it will usually take several days for the muscles to respond, with efficacy peaking at around 2 weeks. The effects last approximately 3-4 months, depending on the area being treated and how many times you have had it previously. As muscle action slowly returns after this time Botox® injections need to be repeated to maintain results. Continued use of Botox® will make lines and wrinkles less severe over time as the muscles are continuously in a relaxed phase. This can also mean less Botox® is needed to achieve the same results over time and longer intervals between treatment sessions.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

HOW MUCH DOES TREATMENT COST?
The price of treatment will vary depending on what treatment is being carried out and the quantity of product being used. Please see prices . Please note it’s important to be individually assessed for an exact treatment quote, as product quantity will vary from person to person. All treatments should be paid for in full prior to starting the treatment. This is the policy of Clinic Four Limited.
I'M SCARED OF PAIN. WHAT PAIN MANAGEMENT OPTIONS DO YOU OFFER?
Anesthesia is a way to numb the area being injected so that you don't have any pain during the treatment. We provide 2 types of anesthetic solutions.

1. Topical anaesthetic: Topical creams like EMLA can be applied to the face and will provide a little anaesthesia. However, it needs to be left on for at least 30 minutes prior to the procedure.
2. Local anesthetic: For a more profound anaesthetic effect, a local anaesthetic, like that undertaken at the dentist, can be administered.
HOW DO I BOOK AN APPOINTMENT? AND WHEN CAN I BOOK?
Please send an enquiry via the contact us page and a member of our team will promptly be in touch to assist you in scheduling an appointment. Appointments can be made at your convenience either online or face-to-face.
HOW LONG DO ANTI-WRINKLE INJECTIONS LAST?
Weakening of the injected muscles begins to be apparent after 2-3 days with the peak effect being reached after 10-14 days. Results can last 3-6 months. The procedure can be repeated after 3 months; however, injections given less than 3 month intervals may reduce the efficacy of the injections.

The duration of effect varies greatly from person to person. It is dependent on many factors such as dosage used, how often you come back for maintenance tops ups as well as physiological and environmental factors. For example if you exercise a lot or use saunas/steam rooms, this may break down the effects of the injections faster than someone that doesn't do the above.
